India has revealed its squad of 15 players for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, with Rohit Sharma at the helm of their quest for victory. The selection of wicketkeepers has been a topic of discussion, and Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been chosen. Pant's return to international cricket after a significant injury in December 2022 adds anticipation to the team's lineup.
Shivam Dube's impressive IPL form secures his position in the squad after featuring in the recent T20I series against Afghanistan.
Dube has been in scintillating form for the Chennai Super Kings, amassing 350 runs in nine matches with a remarkable strike rate of 172.41.
India opts for a spin-heavy bowling lineup, including Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
The pace battery will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, supported by Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.
The selection of batters sees Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav expected to shore up the top order alongside captain Rohit Sharma.
Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh make it to the reserves, along with pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.
Notably, KL Rahul, who featured in India's last two T20 World Cup campaigns in 2021 and 2022, is absent from the squad.
